Halide 3.1 Introduces Perspective Correction, RAW-Only Capture, and New Look
Key points
- New perspective correction tool for photo adjustments
- RAW-only capture mode for advanced users
- Updated UI with a 'Scarlet' visual style
Launch Details
Halide 3.1: Scarlet Edition will be available on July 10, following the recent release of Halide Mark III. This update includes several new features aimed at improving the photography experience for users.
New Features
The key addition is the perspective correction tool, designed to help users make light adjustments to image perspectives, akin to traditional keystone corrections. Users can now easily manipulate perspectives with a simple dial interface.
Additionally, Halide 3.1 introduces a new visual style called 'Scarlet,' which emphasizes warmth, richness, and high saturation, especially for red tones, making it suited for sunset photography.
User Enhancements
The update includes a dedicated Customization panel in the Settings to allow users to change UI themes and icons. New compression controls will help manage image quality versus file size.
Also featured is an opt-in RAW-only capture mode for users looking to shoot in uncompressed RAW format without accompanying JPEGs or HEIC files.
Behavior Improvements
Halide 3.1 addresses user feedback with smarter tap behaviors in the viewfinder—tapping will no longer change the focus or exposure settings while in manual mode. This aims to enhance the shooting experience for photographers.
