FableCut is a new non-linear video editor that operates entirely within web browsers. It stands out by allowing AI agents such as Claude Code and Claude Desktop to edit video content, providing a collaborative editing experience with real-time updates. Unlike traditional tools that use hidden APIs for editing functionalities, FableCut offers transparency by exposing its entire timeline as a JSON document.

FableCut includes 4 video tracks and 3 audio tracks, offering functionality such as dragging, trimming, splitting, and snapping clips. Users can multi-select clips with drag-and-drop features and use undo/redo options. Beat and cue markers enhance editing precision, while real audio waveforms are displayed on clips for better audio management.

Customizability and Effects

The editor provides a variety of video and audio filters, adjustment layers, and comprehensive grading controls. Users can apply chroma key effects and AI-powered background removal directly in the browser. More than 17 transition effects are also available, allowing for creative video storytelling.

Text and Motion Capabilities

Text options include dynamic kinetic captions and a font editor for customization. Motion effects encompass keyframe animations, speed ramps, and camera shake effects, enabling detailed control over video movement and pacing.
