Microsoft Copilot adds PC Insights for analyzing Windows settings
Key points
- Copilot's PC Insights analyzes Windows settings and hardware.
- Users can ask questions and receive direct answers.
- Feature is limited to providing information, not fixing issues.
Introduction of PC Insights
Microsoft has rolled out a new feature in its Copilot app called PC Insights. This feature is designed to assist users in analyzing their Windows environment by answering questions related to hardware, software, and system settings.
Functionality of PC Insights
Users can inquire about various aspects of their system, such as battery health, BIOS version, CPU usage, storage capacity, and network adapters. Copilot requires user permission to access specific system information for each query, ensuring privacy and control over personal data.
Privacy Considerations and Limitations
Microsoft states that Copilot will not store personal files or use them to train its models. Additionally, while PC Insights can identify and clarify issues, it does not have the capability to execute fixes or make system changes autonomously. Users must address any identified problems manually.
Conclusion
Overall, PC Insights presents a helpful tool for users looking to streamline their troubleshooting process and locate specific settings in Windows. Despite its limitations, it could significantly reduce the time spent searching for technical information.
