Stellantis partners with Mobileye for hands-free driving systems

Stellantis has announced a collaboration with Mobileye to integrate its Level 2 hands-free driving assist technology across its vehicle brands. The rollout is expected to start in 2027, allowing for a new level of automated driving features, including intelligent lane keeping.

Technology Details

The collaboration involves Mobileye’s EyeQ system-on-a-chip and the Road Experience Management (REM) data crowdsourcing program. REM utilizes data from Mobileye-equipped vehicles to create a detailed global 3D map, addressing the needs of hands-free driving on unmarked roads.

As competition intensifies among automakers to incorporate advanced driver assist systems, Stellantis aims to increase its offering in this area where technology is recognized for enhancing vehicle safety and providing driver convenience. While Stellantis offers its Hands-Free Active Driving Assist on select models, it has been less aggressive compared to rivals like Ford and GM in advancing its driving assist technologies. Further development is underway with STLA AutoDrive, expected to launch in 2028, in collaboration with Wayve.
