Google Wallet for Android in US adds built-in order tracking via Gmail

New Order Tracking Functionality

Google Wallet for Android users in the United States can now access a new order tracking experience. This feature integrates with Gmail to display detailed receipts, tracking numbers, and shipping statuses for online purchases directly within the Wallet application. It expands beyond just passes to include comprehensive transaction details.

Display and Access

Upcoming orders appear as a card beneath the payment carousel on the Google Wallet homepage. Tapping this card opens a fullscreen page showing the transaction price, purchased items, and tracking details. Users can also view a complete list of all orders in the Transactions section by tapping "View more," with filtering options for "Google Pay" and "Orders."

Merchant Support and Activation

The order tracking feature supports a large number of top US merchants, including Amazon and Google Play in-app purchases, though smaller merchants may not be included. To enable this functionality, users must ensure that "Smart features in other Google products" is activated within their Gmail settings. After enabling, users select a payment card to re-authenticate their Google Account, which then activates order tracking and Wear OS sync.

US Rollout Complete

Google has confirmed that the Wallet order tracking feature has now rolled out to all users in the United States. This update provides a centralized location for managing online purchases and monitoring their delivery status.
