Introduction of Trust Insights Framework

Apple has announced the introduction of a new framework called Trust Insights in iOS 27. This framework aims to provide apps with the ability to detect social engineering scams in real-time by closely monitoring user interactions during activities such as voice calls, text messages, and emails.

How Trust Insights Works

Trust Insights operates primarily on-device, analyzing various behavioral signals such as interaction patterns, timing, and basic sensor data. If the framework determines that a user may be falling victim to a scam, it assigns a medium or high-risk level, enabling the app to issue alerts or enforce additional verification.

Notably, Trust Insights does not access the content of personal communications like Photos or Messages, ensuring user privacy. It discards the underlying data and only relays a single output value to Apple’s servers for further analysis.

Operational Categories and Developer Feedback

The initial implementation of Trust Insights will encompass five operation categories: payment, account updates, resource use, communication, and a generic fallback. Developers are encouraged to provide feedback through Feedback Assistant regarding the performance of Trust Insights as it relates to their applications.

Apple also requests that developers track how the framework affects transactions and flag instances of confirmed fraud to enhance its efficacy.
