New Icon Design for Pixel Recorder
Google has begun rolling out an update for the Pixel Recorder application, bringing the new app icon design to older devices. This updated icon, first introduced with the Pixel 11 series, replaces the original white waveform on a red background with a red waveform on a white background. The new design is less detailed than its predecessor, which had been in use since the Pixel 4's launch in 2019.
Consistent Visual Updates Across Pixel Apps
The visual refresh extends beyond the main app icon to include the Quick Settings Tile and media player icons, ensuring a consistent aesthetic across the application. This update follows similar design changes for other first-party Pixel apps such as Calculator, Camera, Clock, Weather, Journal, My Pixel, Now Playing, and Screenshots, all of which have received or are receiving the latest icon style.
Minor Functional Tweaks
Beyond the icon changes, the update includes a minor user interface adjustment within the app. In the three-dot overflow menu for recordings, the "Edit title" option has been made more prominent, and "Delete" is no longer the first action listed. No other significant functional or visual updates are part of this release.
Availability
The update, identified as version 4.2.20260709.960184543 of Pixel Recorder, is currently rolling out through the Google Play Store. It is not yet widely available to all users.
