Apple Intelligence Usage Limitations Confirmed

Apple has published a new support article detailing the usage terms, limits, and restrictions for its Apple Intelligence features. This follows earlier announcements at WWDC26 and the "Surprise and Shine" event, where the company indicated that some AI functionalities would have usage limits due to their reliance on powerful server models.

Features Subject to Limits

The features identified as relying on server-side models and potentially subject to usage limits include Siri AI, Intelligent Photo Editing Tools (Clean Up, Extend, Spatial Reframing), Image Playground, AFM 3 Cloud and AFM 3 Cloud Pro Models in Shortcuts, and developer apps using Apple Foundation Models in Private Cloud Compute. Apple states that these limits will be implemented "in the future" but has not provided specific timelines or details on what the limits will entail. Once limits are reached, affected features will be temporarily unavailable.

Paid Access for Increased Usage

Apple confirmed that users will be able to pay for increased access to these features. The company noted that limits may vary based on factors such as feature type, request complexity, system demand, and system policies. This indicates a tiered access model for Apple Intelligence functionalities.

iCloud+ Integration for Home Cameras

For Apple Intelligence features within the Home app, such as video summaries, access is tied to iCloud+ subscription plans. The 2 TB plan supports up to 1 camera, the 6 TB plan supports up to 2 cameras, and the 12 TB plan supports up to 5 cameras. Apple also stated that supported camera counts and other iCloud+ plan features may change over time.
