Amazon Web Services (AWS) has introduced a new simplified getting started experience, primarily targeting new builders and those working at the pace of AI. This update moves away from extensive initial configuration tasks, providing users with sensible defaults and streamlined administration to accelerate project deployment.

Key Features of the New Experience

New users can now sign up using existing identities from providers like Google, GitHub, and Apple. For most new customers, a credit card is not required to begin, and they receive $100 in free credits as part of the AWS Free Tier. This allows immediate project building without upfront financial commitments.

The new experience also simplifies collaboration, enabling users to invite team members via email without needing to learn AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) or AWS IAM Identity Center. As projects grow beyond free credits, users can set spend limits to manage budgets on paid plans.

How the Project Structure Works

Upon sign-up, AWS organizes a user's work into a "project," which includes an AWS account for resource creation and settings for team sharing. AWS automatically establishes this structure and applies security controls. After signing in, users receive a prompt to configure their coding agent to interact with the new AWS environment, facilitating resource deployment and workload execution.

Scalability and Advanced Features

While designed for simplicity, the new experience allows users to activate advanced AWS features for additional customization as their projects evolve.
