Binaural Studio is a new browser-based application designed for creating long-form headphone sessions. It integrates a ten-voice binaural synthesizer with independent music and spoken-word audio decks, allowing for complex audio layering and mixing.

Key Features and Functionality

The application can analyze music tracks in the browser to tune the generated binaural layers to the same key. Users can reorder tracks, assign state cues, and adjust crossfades or EQ. An independent spoken-word deck supports audiobooks and other long-form audio, with options for precise or random pauses.

A real-time master recorder allows users to capture the complete session as a single audio file. The two decks operate independently, ensuring spoken-word audio remains intelligible while the music deck drives musical analysis and automation for other layers.

Technical Implementation

Binaural Studio is built using plain HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with no external package dependencies. It operates as a local-first application, meaning there is no backend, account requirement, build step, or audio upload process. Users can run it by cloning the GitHub repository and serving it locally with Python.

User Experience and Design

The application emphasizes a direct user experience, requiring only stereo headphones and a comfortable volume. It is presented as a creative sound-design tool, not a medical treatment. The synthesizer can also be used standalone without loading any files, offering various presets.
