As of June 23, 2026, cdnjs, a widely used open-source content delivery network for JavaScript and CSS libraries, has completed its migration to Cloudflare's Developer Platform. This move signifies that all cdnjs operations are now exclusively powered by Cloudflare's suite of developer tools and services.

Scale and Usage of cdnjs

cdnjs is utilized on approximately 12% of all websites and accounts for 48.3% of the JavaScript CDN market. It processes an average of 108,000 requests per second, totaling 9 billion requests daily, distributed across over 330 Cloudflare data centers. The service maintains a 98.6% cache hit rate, providing rapid access to libraries like jQuery, Bootstrap, and Lodash without requiring sign-ups or API keys.

Evolution of Cloudflare's Support

Cloudflare began hosting cdnjs free of charge in 2011 and assumed project maintenance in 2019. At that time, Cloudflare's Developer Platform was not equipped to support the entire cdnjs ecosystem. Over the past fifteen years, the platform has evolved to incorporate services such as Workers, Workflows, D1, Queues, Workers Cache, R2, KV, and Containers, enabling it to fully support cdnjs end-to-end.

Continued Relevance in Modern Web Development

Despite advancements in web development tools like ES Modules and bundlers, cdnjs continues to serve a significant volume of requests. This sustained usage is partly attributed to large language models (LLMs) like ChatGPT and Claude, which frequently reference cdnjs in their generated code examples due to its prevalence in training data and its consistent, immutable URL patterns.
