D.Mon revealed as Overwatch's 53rd playable hero, launching in Season 4

Blizzard has officially revealed D.Mon as the newest playable hero for Overwatch. This announcement confirms D.Mon as the 53rd character to join the roster and the 15th tank hero in the game. D.Mon will be available to players when Season 4: Heroes of Busan launches on August 11.

Character Design and Abilities

D.Mon's design incorporates abilities reminiscent of other Overwatch heroes, specifically D.Va and Reinhardt. Her mech, named Beast, features boosters for horizontal dashes and a machine gun for ranged damage. Unlike D.Va, D.Mon's mech cannot fly.

The mech also includes a shield and a melee energy sword, allowing D.Mon to slash and knock back opponents. Her in-mech ultimate is a sweeping slash that grants overhealth and amplifies enemy damage, requiring team coordination for optimal use.

Mech Mechanics

A key mechanic for D.Mon is her ability to eject from her mech when it is destroyed, allowing her to continue fighting. She can then re-summon her mech by activating an ultimate ability, which charges as she deals damage with a heavy machine gun. The Beast mech pieces itself back together around D.Mon, differing from D.Va's mech drop.

Release Information

D.Mon's introduction has been anticipated since her initial reveal in an animated short in 2018. Her inclusion as a playable character was hinted at by a silhouette in a teaser image for upcoming heroes. Players can experience D.Mon's abilities and gameplay when Season 4: Heroes of Busan goes live on August 11.
