Delphi 13 Community Edition Availability

Embarcadero has announced the release of Delphi 13 Community Edition. This free version of the Delphi development environment is now available, bringing the Community Edition up to date with the features of Delphi 13 Florence.

Target Audience and Included Features

The Community Edition is designed for students, hobbyists, independent developers, and qualifying startups. It provides access to the Delphi language and framework enhancements introduced in Delphi versions 12.2, 12.3, and 13.0, including updated support for current mobile platforms. The package includes a professional IDE, visual designers, compilers, debuggers, the VCL framework for Windows, and the FireMonkey framework for cross-platform native applications on Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android.

Key Updates Since Version 12.1

The update from Delphi 12.1 Community Edition to Delphi 13 Community Edition incorporates a range of improvements across the language, IDE, framework, and platform support. New Delphi language features include a conditional expression (ternary operator), the NameOf intrinsic, 'is not' and 'not in' operators, new compiler directives for options, and a 'noreturn' directive for procedures. Generic type constraints have also been improved, along with implicit Self parameters in custom managed records.

Enhanced Development Environment

Delphi 13 Community Edition features an updated 32-bit IDE and introduces a new 64-bit IDE. The 64-bit IDE offers a larger address space, which is beneficial for managing large projects. Additionally, a 64-bit Delphi language server is included to improve support for large projects.
