DJI Launches ROMO 2 Robot Vacuums with Enhanced Obstacle Avoidance and Data Privacy Features

DJI Introduces ROMO 2 Robot Vacuums

DJI has announced the launch of its new robot vacuum lineup, the DJI ROMO 2, at IFA 2026. This series, comprising the ROMO P2 and ROMO A2, follows the original DJI ROMO from 2025. The new models maintain a translucent design while incorporating significant upgrades in navigation and cleaning capabilities.

Enhanced Navigation and Cleaning Performance

The ROMO 2 vacuums feature a perception system built from the ground up, offering "millimeter-level awareness of floor-level obstacles." This allows them to avoid objects like cables and adjust suction based on floor conditions, including glass and mirrors. They also include a built-in light for improved visibility in low-light environments. Mechanical improvements include a LiDAR-guided mopping arm with a 123-degree swing, a pressure plate for up to 36,000 Pa of suction, and robot legs capable of stepping over ledges up to 8.5cm (3.3 inches).

Focus on Data Privacy

A notable addition to the ROMO 2 series is the Local Data Mode, set to be available in Q4 2026. This feature, previously seen in DJI drones, cuts the DJI Home app's internet connection when enabled, preventing photos or videos captured by the vacuum from being sent to external servers. Users also have the option to disable the vacuum's cameras and microphone, and any personal data shared with DJI can be deleted.

Pricing and Availability

DJI has released European pricing for the ROMO 2 models. The DJI ROMO P2, which includes a translucent base station, starts at €1,299. The DJI ROMO A2, featuring a white base, starts at €1,199. Both models will be available for order in September directly from DJI or through select retail partners in Europe.
