EVgo to deploy licensed Tesla V4 Superchargers in the US this fall

EVgo Adopts Tesla Supercharger Technology

EVgo, an electric vehicle charging network operator, has announced plans to deploy Tesla V4 Superchargers manufactured under license. This initiative will see the new charging stations integrated into EVgo's network across the United States, with deployment commencing later this fall.

Technical Specifications and Compatibility

The licensed Tesla V4 Superchargers are designed to deliver up to 500 kW of power and operate at up to 1,000 V. Crucially, these chargers will support both the North American Charging Standard (NACS), also known as J3400, and the Combined Charging System 1 (CCS1) plugs. This dual compatibility allows a broader range of electric vehicles to utilize the new charging infrastructure.

Integration with Tesla Ecosystem

A key aspect of this deployment is the integration of the EVgo-owned Superchargers into Tesla's native navigation system. Tesla drivers will see these EVgo units appear in their in-car navigation app and they will be included in the onboard route planner. This integration aims to provide a consistent user experience for Tesla owners, similar to using Tesla's proprietary Supercharger network.

Operational Management by EVgo

EVgo will retain ownership and operational control of these new Supercharger sites. The company will manage all related activities, including engaging with site hosts, handling utility interconnection, and setting pricing for the charging services. This arrangement allows EVgo to expand its network with advanced charging technology while maintaining its operational independence.
