New Memory Kits for AMD Platforms

G.Skill has announced the Flare X5X series of DDR5 memory kits. These new kits are designed to work with AMD Ryzen processors, specifically leveraging AMD's EXPO ULL (Ultra Low Latency) technology. This technology optimizes memory subtimings to improve performance on Ryzen systems, especially those without 3D V-Cache.

Specifications and Initial Availability

The Flare X5X series will initially launch with DDR5-6000 speed, which is considered optimal for AMD's Ryzen chips. The first offering is a 32GB memory kit, consisting of two 16GB modules. The memory timings for this initial configuration are 36-36-36-96 at 1.35V, which are the same as the standard Flare X5 memory kit, but the subtimings are tighter due to EXPO ULL.

EXPO ULL Technology

AMD EXPO ULL technology focuses on tightening memory subtimings to enhance performance. While the main timings of the Flare X5X are similar to non-ULL versions, the underlying subtiming optimizations are intended to provide a performance benefit. G.Skill may offer more optimized configurations for the Flare X5X in the future, similar to its other EXPO ULL offerings with tighter timings.

G.Skill has not yet disclosed the official pricing for the Flare X5X DDR5-6000 C36 32GB memory kit. Historically, AMD anticipated EXPO ULL memory kits to be priced similarly to regular EXPO kits, although initial market conditions led to price differences. Current market trends suggest prices are stabilizing. Based on other G.Skill products, the Flare X5X might be priced slightly higher than its standard Flare X5 counterpart.
