Google Plans to Move All Pixel Production Out of China by 2027

Production Shift to Vietnam and India

Google has reportedly informed its suppliers of plans to move all Pixel device production, including phones, watches, and earbuds, out of China starting in 2027. The company intends to relocate manufacturing operations to Vietnam and India.

Expanding Production Capacity

Google has been expanding its production capabilities in Vietnam and India in recent years. The successful development and manufacturing of Pixel 11 devices in Vietnam, which required investment in testing equipment and fine-tuning production processes, reportedly gave Google confidence to expand this strategy to other devices.

Strategic Advantages of Relocation

Sources indicate that Google's transition out of China may be less complex than for other companies, as it does not officially sell Pixel devices in China and has a smaller user base there. The company can also leverage the established smartphone supply chain ecosystem in Vietnam, previously developed by Samsung.

Increased Shipments and AI Integration

Google has also reportedly communicated plans to increase Pixel phone shipments by 8 to 10 percent this year, building on 2025's 12 million units. The company hopes Pixel phones will drive adoption of its Gemini AI capabilities. To manage rising memory component costs, Google is bundling orders for phone memory chips with those for its cloud computing business.
