Guide to using Google's Find Hub for locating Android devices

Introduction to Find Hub

Google's Find Hub is a tracking network designed to help users locate missing Android phones, tablets, and accessories. It functions similarly to Apple's tracking network and is the primary tool for finding lost Android devices. Users can access Find Hub through a dedicated app on another Android device or Wear OS smartwatch, or via a web browser on a computer or smartphone.

Preparing Your Device for Location Tracking

To ensure a device can be located, users must keep its software updated and be logged into an accessible Google account. Key settings to enable include Location services and specific Find Hub or Lost Device Protection options within the Security or Security and Privacy settings. These settings typically include 'Allow device to be located' or 'Allow this phone to be found'.

Enabling Offline Finding Capabilities

The 'Find your offline devices' or 'Offline Finding' option allows Find Hub to record a device's last known location even if it is offline. This feature requires a PIN, pattern, or password to be set on the phone. For supported models, such as newer Pixel phones, Find Hub can locate devices several hours after they have been turned off, provided 'With network in busy places only' or 'With network everywhere' is enabled and Bluetooth and Location are active.

Accessing Find Hub to Locate a Device

If a device is lost, users can open the Find Hub app on another Android device or Wear OS smartwatch, or navigate to the Find Hub website in a browser. After signing in with the Google account associated with the lost phone, users can access the Devices tab to begin the location process.
