A recent survey conducted by independent research firm Habitelligence indicates that a large majority of home battery owners are highly satisfied with their investment. The survey found that 91% of owners would choose to purchase a home battery system again, and 71% reported that their system exceeded their expectations.

Significant Upfront Investment

Home battery systems represent a substantial financial commitment, with costs often ranging from several thousand to tens of thousands of dollars. This price point places them in the category of a long-term investment rather than an impulse purchase.

Beyond Financial Savings

While some owners justify the cost through direct savings on electricity bills, others find value in additional benefits. These include resilience against power outages, avoiding surge pricing during peak demand, and the ability to power homes with renewable energy sources. Bobby Pierce, head of marketing at Lunar Energy, noted that the ability to run a home largely off sunlight is a significant draw for owners.

Despite overall high satisfaction, individual experiences with home batteries can differ significantly. Factors such as geographical location and specific energy needs influence the day-to-day cost savings and the speed at which benefits are realized. Some homeowners see immediate results, while others may wait a season or two for meaningful impacts.
