OpenLogi: A Native, Local-First Alternative to Logitech Options+ for Peripheral Control

Introduction to OpenLogi

OpenLogi is a new application developed in Rust, designed to provide native and local control over Logitech peripherals. It functions as an alternative to Logitech Options+, allowing users to customize their devices without cloud dependency or data collection.

Key Features and Functionality

The application enables users to remap any of 44 built-in actions to physical buttons, along with custom shortcuts, app launchers, and scripted actions. It directly drives mouse functions like DPI and SmartShift over HID++, and supports per-application profiles that auto-switch based on the active application. Users can also set pointer resolution and cycle presets written directly to the sensor.

Privacy and Local Operation

OpenLogi emphasizes privacy by operating without requiring an account, telemetry, or cloud services. All bindings are stored in a local TOML file, and changes are written directly to the device. This local-first approach ensures user data remains on their system.

Platform Support and Connectivity

The application is available for macOS, Linux, and Windows, with signed and notarized builds for each platform. It connects to devices via Logi Bolt, Unifying, Lightspeed receivers, direct Bluetooth pairing, or a USB cable. OpenLogi also displays battery percentage and charge state for connected devices.

Compatibility Notes

Users are advised to quit Logitech Options+ or Solaar (on Linux) before launching OpenLogi, as these applications compete for HID++ access, and only one can control a receiver at a time.
