Reliance Jio Expands Cloud PC Service to All Indian Internet Users

Reliance Jio has expanded its JioPC cloud PC service, originally launched in July 2025, to all internet users in India. Previously exclusive to Jio broadband subscribers, the service is now available as a stand-alone subscription to anyone with an internet connection, irrespective of their telecom or broadband provider.

Technical Specifications and Pricing

The JioPC service streams a virtual PC from Jio’s cloud to an existing computer. Available plans offer configurations up to eight virtual CPUs, 16GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage. Pricing starts at ₹1,000 (approximately $11) for two months. A 12-month subscription costs ₹4,000 (around $42) for 8GB RAM and 500GB storage, or ₹5,000 (about $53) for the 16GB RAM and 1TB storage option.

Addressing PC Lifecycles and AI Readiness

Jio states that its service can provide computers up to eight years old with the computing power required for modern AI applications, eliminating the need for users to replace their machines or install new hardware. This initiative comes as PC replacement cycles in India are lengthening, with consumers and small businesses replacing PCs every five to six years, up from four to five years in 2022. Enterprises are also extending their cycles to about four years from three previously.

Market Impact and Future Outlook

The expansion of JioPC aims to capitalize on these extended lifecycles by shifting processing and storage to the cloud, allowing for continuous computing capacity upgrades without hardware changes. Industry analysts suggest JioPC could create a market where consumers pay for computing capability rather than repeated hardware upgrades. While not expected to replace conventional PCs, it could establish a parallel, price-sensitive tier for households.
