SAP and Google Cloud have announced the general availability of SAP Business Data Cloud Connect for BigQuery. This release is part of an ongoing partnership between the two companies, focusing on improving data accessibility and freshness for modern workflows.

Zero-Copy Data Access

SAP BDC Connect for BigQuery provides zero-copy access to data products across SAP Business Data Cloud and Google's BigQuery. This architecture allows direct access to SAP tables, metadata, and business semantics within BigQuery and Knowledge Catalog, and vice versa, without needing to replicate data. This approach aims to reduce data silos and preserve business context.

Accelerating Analytics and AI

The integration is designed to accelerate analytics and AI initiatives by making current, semantically rich data available across both environments. It supports grounding AI agents in operational data for complex business tasks and enables multi-agent workflows using platforms like Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform and SAP Joule. Users can combine SAP data with other datasets, such as Google Trends and Google Maps geospatial data, and publish enriched data back to SAP.

Cost Efficiency

The zero-copy architecture of SAP BDC Connect for BigQuery helps lower the total cost of ownership by minimizing the need to replicate, store, and maintain duplicate copies of data. Querying data in place also avoids data sharing fees, contributing to more predictable billing.
