First 80 Plus Ruby ATX Power Supply

Seasonic has launched the Prime Enterprise RX-1600, marking it as the first power supply manufacturer to introduce a standard 115V ATX PSU with the new 80 Plus Ruby efficiency certification. This 1600-watt power supply is built on the ATX 3.1 standard and demonstrates higher power efficiency than Seasonic's Prime TX-1600 model.

Efficiency Specifications

The RX-1600 exceeds the 80 Plus Ruby efficiency specifications. It achieves 88.88% efficiency at 5% load, 93.35% at 10% load, 95.38% at 20% load, 95.27% at 50% load, and 92.81% at 100% load. These figures position the RX-1600 as the most power-efficient PSU in Seasonic's standard ATX lineup. Seasonic indicates the unit is suitable for demanding desktop, workstation, and AI systems.

About 80 Plus Ruby Certification

The 80 Plus Ruby certification, introduced last year, is the highest efficiency rating available in the 80 Plus program. This certification was developed to improve power efficiency in AI datacenters and reduce power consumption costs, especially as AI-driven power requirements increase. Ruby is the first certification to include a 5% load efficiency requirement, aiming to improve efficiency when PSUs are over-specified or operating in redundant configurations.

Certification Requirements

To meet Ruby certification, power supplies must achieve at least 85% efficiency at 5% load, 91% at 10% load, 93% at 20% load, 95% at 50% load, and 91% at 100% load. These requirements represent a marginal improvement over the 80 Plus Titanium certification, which is only 1% lower across the 10% through 100% load requirements.
