Tencent Introduces Hy4 Preview

Tencent has announced the release and open-sourcing of Tencent Hy4 preview, a new large language model. This model features 770 billion total parameters and 49 billion active parameters, alongside a context window that exceeds 1 million tokens. It is built to handle real-world productivity tasks.

Capabilities and Availability

Hy4 preview demonstrates capabilities in coding, office work, and scientific research. It is accessible as an open-source model and integrated into Tencent products like WorkBuddy, CodeBuddy, and Yuanbao. Users can also connect to it via API through Tencent Cloud TokenHub and OpenRouter. For a limited period, Hy4 preview will be available for free on WorkBuddy and CodeBuddy, with free access to Hy3 on these platforms extended until September 30.

Model Advancements and Performance

The model's size, context length, and data volume were significantly expanded. Advances in both pre-training and post-training contribute to its overall intelligence, placing it among the top tier of open-source models. In an internal blind evaluation by Tencent, Hy4 preview scored an average of 2.99 out of 4.00, slightly outperforming GLM-5.3 (2.92/4.00) and Kimi K3 (2.94/4.00) on engineering tasks.

Productivity Focus and Training

Hy4 preview was developed with a focus on productivity, utilizing high-quality training data co-created with Tencent experts in software engineering, gaming, finance, and security. This co-design approach with products like WorkBuddy has led to improvements in various real-world productivity tasks, including long-context development tasks in software engineering and enhanced financial analysis capabilities in office and analytical scenarios.
