Tesla FSD Supervised receives provisional approval in Czech Republic, expanding European availability

FSD Supervised Approved in Czech Republic

Tesla's Full Self-Driving (Supervised) system has received provisional approval from the Czech Republic's Ministry of Transport. This decision allows Tesla to roll out FSD Supervised availability to residents in the Czech Republic soon, making it the seventh European country to permit the driver assistance system.

Evaluation Process and Concerns

The Czech transportation agency based its decision on a provisional approval issued by the RDW, the Dutch auto regulatory authority, in April. Initially, the agency had concerns regarding FSD Supervised's handling of traffic lights and speed limits, as well as its methods for ensuring driver attention and readiness to take over control. After several months of evaluation and reviewing experiences from other countries where the system was already in use, the Czech Republic granted its approval.

Expanding European Footprint

With this approval, the Czech Republic joins the Netherlands, Lithuania, Estonia, Denmark, Belgium, and Slovenia in allowing Tesla's FSD Supervised on its roads. Tesla is continuing efforts to secure approval in larger European countries, such as France, which is currently conducting tests on the system. The company's long-term goal is to expand FSD Supervised across the entire European Union, potentially requiring support from at least 15 of the 27 member states in a vote that could occur as early as October.
