Xenharmlib 0.4.0 adds support for Just Intonation and refactors core for multiple generator intervals

Expanded Tuning System Support

Xenharmlib version 0.4.0 introduces significant enhancements to its core functionality. The library's architecture has been refactored to support tunings with multiple generator intervals, moving beyond its previous limitation to equal-division temperaments. This change allows xenharmlib to now represent the full spectrum of regular temperaments, including Just Intonation.

Just Intonation Integration

A key feature of this release is the addition of Just Intonation support, implemented through the Prime Limit Tuning construct. Just Intonation systems are based on pure intervals, defined by fractions of two integers. This historical tuning method, prevalent before the widespread adoption of equal temperament in the 18th and 19th centuries, can now be accurately modeled and analyzed within the library.

Broader Musical Analysis Capabilities

With these updates, xenharmlib can now be used for the mathematical analysis of music from various global traditions, such as Byzantine, European Renaissance, Indian classical, Indonesian gamelan, and Arabic Maqam. It also supports the study of 20th-century American experimental music. The library's existing analytical tools, like Prime Form and Normal Form calculations, are now compatible with these multi-dimensional regular temperaments.

Documentation Improvements

Alongside the functional updates, the documentation for xenharmlib has been completely revamped. Feature examples are now organized by tuning and notation, and comprehensive, dedicated documentation is provided for all harmonic primitives, aiming to improve usability and understanding for developers and researchers.
