Galaxy Z Fold 8 to feature 20W wireless charging upgrade

Details on Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wireless Charging

Upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 will support 20W wireless charging, according to a Naver post by Lanzuk. This is a notable upgrade, as previous models have seen little change in wireless charging capabilities.

The Z Fold 8 Ultra's wireless charging capability remains uncertain; however, both models are expected to include 45W wired charging options.

Comparison with Previous Models

The transition to 20W wireless charging represents a shift for Galaxy Z Fold devices, which haven't seen significant wireless charging upgrades in recent iterations. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 offered 25W wired charging, but improvements were limited at that time.

Competitors in the market may have advanced features that necessitate Samsung's update to retain its position.

Potential Impact and Expectations

The absence of support for newer standards like Qi 2.2 is a notable omission, particularly as competitors have begun to adopt these technologies. Samsung’s focus seems to be on ensuring compatibility with accessories rather than enhancing the device itself.

The Galaxy Unpacked event scheduled for July 22 will provide further details, positioning these specifications within Samsung’s broader strategy for their flagship devices.
