Adobe Firefly AI audio generation tools, including music and voiceover, are now generally available

Firefly Audio Tools Reach General Availability

Adobe has announced the general availability of its Firefly AI audio generation tools: Generate Music, Generate Speech, and Generate Sound Effects. These tools are designed to integrate audio creation directly into creative workflows, providing users with options for producing various types of audio content.

Addressing Licensing and Copyright Concerns

A survey conducted by Adobe in partnership with Berklee College of Music highlighted that 100% of respondents use music in videos, with 32.7% using AI-generated music. The survey also found that 43.2% cited legal and copyright risks and 38.9% cited licensing costs as major barriers to using music. Adobe states that its Generate Music tool creates fully licensed tracks, aiming to mitigate these concerns for users.

Key Features of the New Tools

Generate Music creates original, licensed tracks that can be tuned to a video's length and mood, allowing for adjustments to tempo, energy, and duration. Generate Speech converts scripts into voiceovers, offering choices between Adobe's Firefly speech model and ElevenLabs, and supports expressivity and pronunciation tags. Generate Sound Effects allows users to create custom sounds using text prompts or by recording a voice reference.

Workflow Integration and Commercial Use

Adobe emphasizes that these tools are designed to streamline the audio production process, which is often a point of disruption in creative workflows. The company states that the generated material is commercially safe and does not require a separate subscription for commercial use. This integration aims to simplify the creation of audio for various content types, from social media to short films.
