Meadow, a new startup, has released a minimalist Android phone. Unlike other 'dumb phones' that emphasize complete disconnection, Meadow's device focuses on allowing users to step away from their primary smartphone without sacrificing critical functionalities. The founder, Shreyas Narlanka, stated the goal is to enable users to engage in social activities and outdoor pursuits while remaining accessible for necessities.

The Meadow phone runs on Android, providing compatibility with applications such as Maps, Strava, Uber, Apple Music, and Spotify. It also includes native utilities like a camera, voice memos, notes, text messaging, calling, location sharing, and ticket scanning. Connectivity options include Bluetooth and support for 3.5mm headphones via a USB-C-to-3.5mm adapter.

Usage and Subscription Model

Users cannot use their existing phone number with the Meadow device. Instead, a new subscription plan through Meadow provides a separate phone number for use with the minimalist phone. This setup is intended for situations where users prefer not to carry their main smartphone, such as during concerts or outdoor activities.
